Xiaomi has unveiled a mid-range smartphone called Mi 5X at an event in China.
Xiaomi Mi 5X features a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD 2.5D curved glass LTPS display with 450nit brightness, 1000:1 contrast ratio and is powered by 2GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 14nm processor with 650MHz Adreno 506 GPU. It runs on MIUI 8 based on Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) and will get MIUI 9 update. The handset also features a unibody metal design with rounded edges, has anti-fingerprint coating offering a smooth finish and a fingerprint sensor on the back.
In the camera sections, Xiaomi Mi 5X boasts a dual camera setup of 12MP rear camera with wide-angle lens, 1.25μm pixel size, f/2.2 aperture, dual-tone LED flash, secondary 12MP camera with telephoto lens, 1.0 μm pixel size, f/2.6 aperture, PDAF and 5MP front-facing camera for selfie and video chat. The smartphone also equips with 4GB RAM, 64GB storage (eMMC 5.0) that can be expanded memory up to 128GB with microSD.
The device measures 155.4 x 75.8 x 7.3 mm and weighs 165 grams. Connectivity wise, the device offers 4G with VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), GPS with AGS/GLONASS, 3.5mm audio jack, USB type C and 3080mAh (typical) / 3000mAh (minimum) battery. The sensors include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, infrared, magnetometer, and proximity sensor.
Along with, the Mi 5X, Xiaomi also announced MIUI 9, the next major version of Xiaomi’s mobile operating system which is based on Android Nougat.
The Xiaomi Mi 5X comes in Black, Gold and Rose Gold color options and it costs 1499 yuan (US$ 222 / Rs. 14284 approx.) and will go on sale in China from August 1st. The registrations for the first sale are already open.
