HTC U Ultra to be launched in India on February 21

HTC is going to launch its first high end U-series smartphone namely U Ultra smartphone in India on February 21st. The smartphone was announced along with another smartphone called the U Play in January. The company has sent out Media invites for the event, which will be held in New Delhi.

The invite clearly mentions the U Ultra meaning the flagship phone will be one of the phones to be launched at HTC’s press conference. Whether or not it will launch the U Play as well is something only time will tell.

HTC U Ultra specifications:

HTC U Ultra features 5.7-inch (1440 x 2560 pixels) Quad HD Super LCD 5 display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection /  Sapphire Glass (128GB version). The device sports a metal and glass build and comes with an AI-powered assistant called HTC Sense Companion. The company claims that the assistant will learn user behaviour and deliver prioritised notifications on the secondary display.

The smartphone is powered by Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 64-bit processor (2×2.15 GHz Kryo and 2×1.6 GHz Kryo) with Adreno 530 GPU and runs on Android 7.0 (Nougat) with HTC Sense UI.

In the rear side of the device it has a 12MP (UltraPixel 2)  camera with dual-tone LED flash, 1.55um pixels, f/1.8 aperture, Laser AF, OIS, 4K video recording and in the front side it has a 16MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, UltraPixel mode. The device also comes with a new audio technology called U-Sonic. The company says that this technology allows the device to deliver true sound based on the user’s listening behavior.

It comes with Hybrid dual SIM (nano+nano/microSD) and features 4GB RAM, 64 internal storage, expandable memory up to 2TB with microSD. The device comes with HTC USonic, HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi edition, 3D Audio recording with 4 microphones. It measures 162.41 x 79.79 x 3.6-7.99mm and weight: 161 grams.

Connectivity wise it features 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4 and 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS with GLONASS, NFC, USB 3.1 Type-C and 3000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0.

The HTC U Ultra comes in Sapphire Blue and Brilliant Black colors and the 64GB version is listed as coming soon on the HTC India eStore. Right now we don’t have any info about the price of the smartphone in India. The price will be revealed when it launches next Tuesday but in the UK, prices for the device start at £649, which is roughly Rs. 54,100.
